How to pay for international flight tickets with a virtual dollar card

Updated on October 22, 2026

Airlines and online travel agencies usually charge tickets in dollars or in the currency of the country of sale. With a virtual Visa card holding a dollar balance you pay for the ticket online and know what leaves the balance before you book.

How do you pay for a flight with a virtual dollar card?

Tickets are bought on the airline’s website or app, or on online travel agencies. The price is fixed on the payment screen, and the currency depends on the site and the country chosen at purchase.

Guarapay issues a virtual prepaid Visa card with a US-dollar balance in about two minutes, in the Guarapay app or the Telegram mini app @guarapay_bot. The card works online wherever Visa cards are accepted. Some merchants may decline cards according to their own rules, and airlines and agencies often run anti-fraud checks, so check in the app that the payment was approved.

How do you buy the ticket step by step?

  1. Open the Guarapay app or the Telegram mini app @guarapay_bot and create an account.
  2. Issue the virtual card; the issue fee is US$ 10 on Standard or US$ 100 on Premium.
  3. Top up the full ticket price, including baggage and seat if you add them, plus the US$ 0.25 per-purchase fee, using a Visa or Mastercard bank card in your own name or USDT.
  4. On the airline or agency site, search for the flight and choose the fare.
  5. Enter the passengers exactly as they appear on the passport.
  6. At payment, choose card and, if there is a currency option, prefer dollars (USD).
  7. Enter the card number, expiry date, security code, name and billing address as they appear in the app and confirm.
  8. Look for the charge notification in the app and keep the booking confirmation e-mail.

Pay in dollars or in the site currency?

Some sites show the price in the currency of the country of sale and offer to convert to another currency at their own exchange rate. Since the card balance is in dollars, choosing USD is usually the most predictable path.

If the charge comes in another currency, Visa converts it to dollars on the purchase date. The fare can differ from one selling site to another, so compare the final total with taxes and fees, not only the headline price.

How much does it cost to pay for the ticket with the card?

The ticket price, airport taxes and extras are what the site shows; Guarapay does not change them. On the card side, you top up the purchase amount, the top-up fee (2% with USDT, 5% with a bank card) is taken at top-up, and each approved charge costs US$ 0.25.

On Premium the USDT top-up fee is 1% (by bank card it stays 5%). There is no monthly card fee. If you top up with a local bank card, your bank may add its own taxes and exchange rate; with USDT the top-up lands directly in dollars.

The card has a monthly limit of US$ 10,000 on Standard and US$ 100,000 on Premium. For several passengers or legs, add everything up and adjust the monthly cap and the per-purchase cap in the app before paying.

Why was my ticket payment declined?

  • Insufficient balance: it must cover the ticket, extras and the US$ 0.25 per-purchase fee.
  • Caps in the app: the monthly or per-purchase cap may be lower than the total.
  • Frozen card: unfreeze it in the app before trying again.
  • A name or billing address that differs from what the app shows.
  • The site’s anti-fraud check: some airlines ask for extra confirmation; follow the on-screen instructions and do not repeat the purchase several times in a row.
  • Try again after a few minutes and, if it still fails, contact support through the Telegram bot in the app or on the website.

What mistakes are most common?

  • Topping up only the headline price and forgetting baggage, seat and the US$ 0.25 fee.
  • Typing the passenger name differently from the passport.
  • Accepting the site’s currency conversion when you could pay in USD.
  • Buying without reading the change, cancellation and refund rules of the fare.

FAQ

Do airlines accept virtual cards?

Airlines take card payments, and the Guarapay card works wherever Visa is accepted. Some merchants may decline cards according to their own rules, so check the approval in the app.

Can I buy a ticket for someone else?

The payment works the same way. The name on the ticket must be the passenger’s, as on the passport; the cardholder does not have to be the passenger, but follow the site’s rules.

What if I cancel the ticket?

The refund follows the fare rules and the airline or agency; follow it in the app. To block any new charge right away, freeze the card in the app.

How do I top up the balance?

In the app, with a Visa or Mastercard bank card in your own name or with USDT, with no minimum amount.

Is there a monthly fee for the card?

No. You pay the issue fee of US$ 10 (US$ 100 on Premium), the top-up fee of 2% with USDT (1% on Premium) or 5% with a bank card, and US$ 0.25 per approved purchase.
