How to pay university application and exam fees abroad in dollars
University applications and proficiency exams usually charge fees in dollars, paid online by card and against a deadline. With a virtual Visa card holding a dollar balance you pay each fee and keep the receipt without exposing your bank card.

How do you pay application and exam fees in dollars?
Universities, application portals and proficiency exam organisers usually charge a fee per application, per exam or per document sent. The amount and currency are the ones shown on each institution’s payment screen, and they can change from one year to the next.
Guarapay issues a virtual prepaid Visa card with a US-dollar balance in about two minutes, in the Guarapay app or the Telegram mini app @guarapay_bot. The card works online wherever Visa cards are accepted. Some merchants and institutions may decline cards according to their own rules, so check in the app that the payment was approved, ideally well before the deadline.
How do you pay the fee step by step?
- Open the Guarapay app or the Telegram mini app @guarapay_bot and create an account.
- Issue the virtual card; the issue fee is US$ 10 on Standard or US$ 100 on Premium.
- Top up the total of the fees you will pay, with a margin, plus the US$ 0.25 per-purchase fee for each payment, using a Visa or Mastercard bank card in your own name or USDT.
- On the university or exam portal, fill in the registration with the details exactly as on the passport.
- At the payment step, choose card and check the amount and currency.
- Enter the card number, expiry date, security code, name and billing address as they appear in the app.
- Confirm, download the receipt and look for the charge notification in the app, which arrives right away.
Why pay well ahead of time?
Applications have deadlines, and the registration is usually considered complete only after the fee is paid. A declined payment close to the last day can cost you a place or an exam date, and the institution decides whether to accept a late payment.
So test the approval early, leave a margin on the balance and keep the receipt. If the fee is paid in more than one step, add them all up before topping up.
How much does it cost to pay the fees with the card?
Each fee is the amount the institution shows; Guarapay does not change it. On the card side, you top up the total, the top-up fee (2% with USDT, 5% with a bank card) is taken at top-up, and each approved charge costs US$ 0.25. For several applications, that means one per-purchase fee per application.
On Premium the USDT top-up fee is 1% (by bank card it stays 5%). There is no monthly card fee. If you top up with a local bank card, your bank may add its own taxes and exchange rate; with USDT the top-up lands directly in dollars.
The card has a monthly limit of US$ 10,000 on Standard and US$ 100,000 on Premium. In application season, add everything up and adjust the monthly cap and the per-purchase cap in the app.
Why was my fee payment declined?
- Insufficient balance: it must cover the fee and the US$ 0.25 per-purchase fee.
- Caps in the app: the monthly or per-purchase cap may be lower than the amount.
- Frozen card: unfreeze it in the app before trying again.
- A name or billing address that differs from what the app shows.
- The portal’s anti-fraud check: follow the on-screen instructions and do not repeat the payment several times in a row.
- Try again after a few minutes and, if it still fails, contact support through the Telegram bot in the app or on the website.

FAQ
Do universities and exam centres accept virtual cards?
They take card payments, and the Guarapay card works wherever Visa is accepted. Some merchants and institutions may decline cards according to their own rules, so check the approval in the app.
Can I pay the fee for someone else, such as a child?
The payment works the same way, but the registration at the institution must carry the applicant’s details. Check the portal’s rules on whether the cardholder can be someone else.
Is the fee refunded if I withdraw?
It depends on the institution. Many application fees are not refundable, so read the rules before paying.
How do I top up the balance?
In the app, with a Visa or Mastercard bank card in your own name or with USDT, with no minimum amount.
Is there a monthly fee for the card?
No. You pay the issue fee of US$ 10 (US$ 100 on Premium), the top-up fee of 2% with USDT (1% on Premium) or 5% with a bank card, and US$ 0.25 per approved purchase.
